Saturday saw Rob qualify 13th & 12th for the first two races of the weekend.  The first of the weekends three races didn’t go exactly to plan.  As the cars headed out for their warm up lap the rain started to fall.  Starting from row 7 on the grid Rob made a decent start, but the rain was new to him and on the slick tyres he was struggling for grip.  He said: “I held onto the back of the group till around lap 7 I think, but a soon as they had a gap I couldn’t close it, in the end I decided to drive to the finish rather than risk crashing”.  He finished 13th overall and 5th in class.

Race 2 was on Saturday morning.  With the circuit still wet from over night rain most drivers were on wet tyres.  The race was a similar affair to race 1.  Rob had a decent battle with some of the other scholarship class drivers.  He end up 13th overall and 4th in class.

A long wait until race 3, with the sun starting to set in the background, but finally some dry track time.  Starting from row 7 on the grid Rob made a bad get away with too much wheel spin and lost two places.  A battle ensued and the lead group of 8 got away.  Rob made it to the front of the second pack after a fantastic battle with four other cars.  Towards the latter stage of the race Findlay, the eventual scholarship class winner, was quicker and overtook Rob.  That was how it stayed to the finish.  Rob ended up 10th overall and 2nd in class.

He said: “It was a really enjoyable race, a shame that I got a bad start because I think that we could have stayed with the lead group and who knows what could have happened then.  The weekend has been great, we’ve made a step forward from Silverstone and that promising for next year”.
